One Kick Wonders 2.0 season was anything but a one kick wonder! Throughout out the whole season we saw this team put on great performances as they made their run through the regular season. In any sport the biggest thing a team looks for is consistency and One Kick Wonder 2.0 was a perfect example of that. In my opinion I think they got better when they got to the playoffs. In the first round of playoff games we saw a great number of plays by One Kick Wonders 2.0 including a triple play which was completed by Lea Edwards. This game was a great showing of defense and offense as well with the 9 to 0 win. In the championship game we saw another girl, Stephanie Carlson, go 5 for 5 putting on a offensive slaughter with a batting average of 1.000! All I have to say is no around the league has to "wonder" about One Kick Wonders 2.0 because they are the rightful champs and have earned every bit of it!
One Kick Wonders 2.0 dominated the game both offensively scoring 9 runs and defensively keeping their opponents Brews on First to 0 runs. The biggest contributor to the offensive side of the ball was Stephanie Carlson. She went 5 for 5 for in the championship game and was a powerhouse in the lineup. I would compare her to Nelson Cruz in the Mariners batting lineup, that's how dominating she was. Even in the sport of kickball we don't always see players with a batting average of 1.000 in a game! One more thing for everyone to know, Stephanie didn't just bunt the whole game she was kicking the ball around field. That's why Stephanie Carlson is this weeks player of the game!
Frank was a defensive master mind on this playoff evening. He recorded the first four outs for his team at short stop. With the 1st two runners on in the first inning, Frank took matters into is hands by catching a fly ball in shallow left field and snagging a ripped ground ball in the hole between short and 3rd to throw out the runner at third. He calmly caught a line drive for the 3rd and final out. He also made a non routine play in the second inning look very routine. Not to be overshadowed by his fielding skills, Frank also belted 3 extra base hits and had 3 rbis.
Brian Erola wins player of the week, for his stellar performance in the second game of a double header Thursday night. Pitching the whole game, Brian racked up 6 strikeouts in a single game. Adding on to that, Brian had great defensive plays and got on base nearly every at bat. Brian really showed the league that he is a five tool player and made the One Kick Wonders the team to watch.
Rob Beck get player of the week for his absolutely consistent play on both sides of the ball. His team raves about his ability to consistent play at the same level game in and game out.
