After a few tight wins in the playoffs OG DIG was on a hot streak with no signs of slowing down, but they were up against some of their most fearsome competition yet, Steve and friends. These games were intense with no clear break in points until half way through each game. Each match boiled down to net play with scramble balls and exhaustingly long rallies being the norm, but after terminating some balls through the middle DIG was able to snatch game one. Game two brought a similar tone with each team giving their all through amazing passing and perfect setting on both sides. In the end the difference maker was the outstanding blocking from DIG at the net and after taking a 5 point lead in the second half, they didn’t slow down. DIG managed to clinch the championship in just two games in one of the most competitive and evenly matched games all tournament.

Coming into the championship blockbuster knew they had their work cut out for them matching up against one of the scrappiest teams in the league in volleyball era, but they were prepared. Stepping up to the plate, each player was determined to do everything in their power to not let that ball touch the ground. Lay outs, dive rolls, full sprints, blockbusters was a complete machine of endurance in getting that ball up and in attacking position, but they wouldn’t have it easy. Volleyballers were just as determined, they scrambled, hung on, and played scrappy keeping the games intense. What eventually won block busters the game was in the net play with great setting both in and out of system as well as the ability to play the ball off of the net. These qualities combined with their impenetrable defense are what put them above the competition and are also what eventually crowned them as champions on that day.
